Newer acuras

I originally wanted a 2000 tl but opted for the 98 because of the transmission problems with the newer acuras. Whats everybody think about that? I dont even know if the third gens got problems.

Sounds good to me, since I have a first gen. Plus, it is cheaper. Not as easy to mod though, and they are older.

First gens sure don't have the same impressive failure rate as the second gen ones though.

For the third gens, I would just buy a 6MT if I ever had the money. But I don't...

2004 RL > 05+ RL

I'm sticking with my first gen till its the last one or till it just completely dies... gets cancer or something... i'll still try to fix it...

Well I have a '97 and a '03. The '03 has been fine so far, but it HAS had a lot of prevention fixes done by the dealership (obviously for free) We'll see how that goes. I'm tempted to trade it for an RL.

The 3rd generation TL so far doesnt have any transmission issues.

I want the new TL so bad. It's friggin nice and comfortable on the inside, pretty damn quick for FWD, has a great price tag, comes in stick shift, and looks great in general. Definetly one of my favorite practical and affordable cars for sure. As for the RL, the 05 is far nicer than my dad's 99 (fairly similar to the 04 except for the 04s have nicer stuff on the inside). My dad and I test drove it together and it was sweet. The inside is so clean looking, the navi is literally the top of the line, it has lots and lots of high end torque, the paddle shift is pretty fun, it takes corners very well with the SH-AWD, has swiveling headlights (I love those), it's like a spaceship technology-wise on the inside, and everything comes standard except for like the different rims and stuff.

i read that the reason why the 99-03 honda cars have bad tranny is b/c honda used cheap parts to build the tranny to save money. now its biting them and us in the butt.

i admit, i originally was going to get a 97 cl stick but backed out and got the 97 tl. haven't looked back since.

It was the design that ruined the transmission. The path for the fluid to flow was poorly designed

Thats correct, the tranny would overheat.
