i just bought a 96 2.5 TL with 81k miles..just wondering what is recommended to do to tune it up..also other mods i can do..

for tune up, change your:
1) spark plugs and the wires
2) ALL the belts
3) transmission flush
4) radiator flush
5) i think engine flush
the recommendation for tune up should be in the manual book. a major tune up should be done around at 100k

tune-up
Your 96 2.5TL has an emissions extension to 14 years or 140k. Acura will perform a tune-up between 75k and 140k. this will include wires, cap , rotor, plugs, LOF, if it has not been done already. There are several things covered in this extension, some items are the exhaust manifold(usually gets cracked/noisey/leaking, $1000 repair) 02 sensors, etc. Call your local dealer if you have any ?'s. Check also to see if the lower ball joint update has also been performed by having the dealer perform a VIN status report. ( I can get this info also, but I need a VIN #) private message me if you want with the VIN #.

emissions
this applies to all: 951/2 2.5TL, 95 NSX, ALL 96 models except SLX, ALL 97 models except SLX and Type R. This is for the emissions extension. There are 4 levels to this. 2 OBD inspections , 1 repair, and 1 Tune-up. Contact your local dealer and ask them to pull up a VIN Status to see what your car requires. The tune-up is only valid between 75k and 150K.
