ok I know this has been discussed but I never saw this particular aspect.. ok I need a stronger alternater but the problem is I can't live without my car for more than a day so is there anywhere you can order an alternater from that will give you a new one? I don't want to spend over 300 if possible thanks guys

 

Sure. Ohio Generator can make you a whole new alternator but I'm not sure how much they want. I would say at least $600. I e-mailed www.wranglernw.com and they have a 175 amp alternator for our car for $780. Ohio Generator can re-wind you factory alternator to 200 amps for $400. They do it the same day they get it. If you overnight it there and back, its only a 3 day wait. I'm sending mine out to them next week.

I'm not sure how far you are from them. For me from NY its like $50 each way but I'm doing it through my job since we get a discount and its only $20 each way. Try UPS. Its a lil cheaper than Fedex.

 

alternator.. what exactly does that function as? doesnt that work as like....a battery or some sort?? forgive my stupidity. school me fellas

 

The battery gives your car the juice to start it up after that the alternator generates power to keep your car running , etc etc.
