My TL is dead for now

well i was going work this morning and all of a sudden the ABS light came on. Then my radio stopped working, the car jerked a little bit, wiper was slow and odometer needle jumping up and down. I managed to drive an hour to work, tried starting it but car woudn't start. Fast forward to 5pm after work, car started normally, drove for a mile, ABS came on, car jerked and kaboom i lost power. nothing on the car worked. no sound when i turn key, i couldn't even put car in neutral. well i towed it to the honda dealership. anyone knows what's going on?

You wasted your money towing it to the dealer for a bad alternator.

~Cheers~

P.S. It could also be a broken terminal on the alternator output wire like mine.

I FEEL YOUR PAIN. This happened to me as well; most likely it's a bad wire. Did you check the wires coming out of the harness to your battery? Most likely the negative end; a handful of them are defective...even all the way clamped, they tend to slide right on off...

manuf's defect...

I have experienced the battery cable problem on my 98 2.5, it just wasn't tight and wasn't going to get tight. It's been OK for a while now though, so we'll see.

My car died because of a bad battery, a new battery in the engine bay and now it is running smoothly again. no more ABS light or jerking, just the smooth sound of the 5cyl engine

hmm my TL died again. Apparently alternator not working properly as someone earlier on suggested. New alternator and car is running again. Hopefully this is the end of my electrical problems. I'm going to ask for refund from the guy who diagnosed my car wrongly the first time around.

^ What did I tell you? Could've saved some time and trouble if you had went with the alternator in the first place, but everyone can stand to have a new battery anyway, so look on the bright side.

~Cheers~
