might mean you need to replace your transmission fluid if it's happening on first gear

If he's hitting 8k RPM I think he might need to replace more than transmission fluid

Are you exagerating about the 8k or are you dead serious? Your redline is just below 7k so if you're actualy hitting 8k then for starters you have a problem with the rev limiter. When you over rev your engine, there is a good chance of breaking something in the valvetrain.

You wanna know what I think is happening? I think you're in over your head and you have no clue about what you're doing. You just mash the gas pedal to the floor and hold on. That is not good for your car, you or even other people on the road.

Maybe your tach is broken. Or the sensor cable.

Happens often enough on motorcycles.

No point in removing the limiter if no other engine work was done. Were the valve retainers replaced, or the valve springs, or the rockers upgraded to withstand higher RPMs? BTW, from what it sounds like, the limiter WASN'T removed, only the shift maps were changed. The tranny is now being told to shift at a higher RPM if you are at WOT, and that really isn't smart at the level yours is set. Another note, are you actually hitting 7K RPMs or is it around 6800? Isn't our stock fuel cut at 6800RPMs? If anything, the tranny is being told to shift at 6700, right before fuel cut, which again, isn't smart if you are bone stock.

~Cheers~

6800 is the limit for a 2.5 motor.

6200 is the limit for a stock Type I 3.2 motor.

okay i need to question this... unless i have been in a black hole for a while... i didn't know there was much aftermarket support for internal components for our engines...

That's right. I don't mean just stock replacements, I meant performance valve springs.

There is none. You either get JDM parts for a higher spec motor or you do custom.
