I changed the starter and now it does start.

I changed the starter about three weeks ago. it starts up fine. Sometimes it would take a couple of tries, but by the third try it starts. It was driven earlier and now it will not start at all. It does turn, ie make the starting sound. But will not turn over. My dad thinks it is the coil. Any ideas?

thanks for checking in. I think it is #13. ignition timing adjuster. I believe that is what it is called. but my mechanic friend calls it an igniter.

I towed it to the dealer to look at it. at first they said they will try to see if it is the main relay, $223 included labor. Ordered it and they put it in. Doesn't work either, so I don't have to pay for it So they will try something else. They said maybe the ECM. I am not worried, because it should be covered under the emissions warranty. Bummer though, they did not have an available loaner car for me. Although I spoke to someone else there earlier and they said they had plenty of loaners. Dealership trying to slide one.

I will keep everyone posted. Hopefully it will be covered under the extended emission warranty.

it could very well be the ignitor...they are known to be a honda universal problem but that is part of the distributor...oh well at least its covered by the waranty. I went through a stint somewhat like your talking about. When I got done I had replaced the entire ignition system (plugs, wires, cap rotor, coil, ignitor) except the distributor. Good luck

yeah, they changed the top dead center senor. they are wanting me to pay for it. I going to ask honda to see if they will cover it. but they will change out the distributor. hopefully that will help it out. this will be their third try.

Do u guys know the policy on loaner cars? They will not give me one. I did not buy the car from them.
