high temperature H4 sockets for halogen bulbs

I've got a '96 TL, and a couple years ago put some cheaper halogen bulbs into my car. It was my dumb mistake to buy off brand "superwhite" haolgens. The bulbs melted the H4 socket for the bulbs, and when I went to the dealer they had to replace the whole wire'n harness, which was almost $400 bucks ouch!!

So I've got questions:

1. Should I buy some the higher temperature sockets from the auto store?

2. I've been thinking about some of the PIAA bulbs, would they also burn up my wireing?

3. If the high temp sockets were the way to go, can I just cut the sockets off my wiring harness, strip the wires, then twist and cap together with the wires of the new socket?

Thanks

1.) those high temp harnesses, i dunno if they are legit... i mean plastic is plastic... can it really hold more heat???
2.)piaa is known to keep wattage down to 55w.. as long as it is staying in that area or lower u are okay...
3.) yes its just cust and pug in... make sure the right wires are connecting...

PS.. most of us have hid conversion kits... i would highly recommend it.. it only draws 35w.. and it outputs so much more light that any fake xenon lookalike...
