HID Kit???

Ok my moms 3.5 rl has the hid from the factory. I have seen some kids locally get aftermarket hid kits and they look nothing like these units in the rl. What kit do i get to look identical to the beam? Its like a super florescent white/blue looking beam that is totally obvious 2 miles away that its hid not some junkass robotikblue headlight bulb nonsence. I want the real deal HID and the super white/blue looking color ones. I dont really like the ones in the 2nd gen 3.2 tl how they are pinkish. Please let me know soon i need to order these.

what kit is it and is it 6000k 8000k or what. Im sure this post could be answered by looking up but figured someone with a kit would know if they look similar to the 99+ 3.5 RL Beam.

Thanks a million in advance.

Sylvania kits are a nice bluish color, 5400K like BMWs. 6000K kits look more purple and 8000K kits seem more blue. The RL HIDs are 4300K.

thanks. Car is in the paintshop now. Got it repainted the same color just all the dents pulled and the damage from doadus hitting me. I also had them paint the entire license box including the chrome deal in the back and the entire front grill has been painted as well. I got the emblems shaved ands the keyhole on the back removed also. A greddy exhaust for a prelude has been fabricated on there (the sp system is the same as the rear tl section just differant lentgh), a carbon fiber hood, and eyelids. I managed to get that all out of the damages cause my friend owns a bodyshop and is giving me a deal. Id like to get the 4300 kit like the rl has then. So from what u are saying the number (ex 4300, 6000, 8000) all depends on the color? Like the differant numbers mean differant colors or what. I dont want a purple hid kit or some ricey stuff like that.. I want a white one like the rl and nice bimmers have. SO i guess i need to find a 4300 h4 kit. The 4300 isnt like dimmer then the 4000k is it?

Let me know

thanks broz

the 6000k I have from Philips is super white at night and a little purple tint in the morning, not very purple.

The 8000k, is it more blue than the 5300k on the BMW ?

6000k is kinda like stock TL (99+ models) 8000k is purple'ish like the bemers. so yes...the numbers distinguish the colors. so basically the higher the number, the more purple'ish it gets...as well as price

I've never seen the 8000K's in person but someone has them on this board and they looked aqua, not purple. The headlight housing also affects color somewhat. I used to have Philips bulbs off a Benz S500 that looked purple in the Benz but VERY blue in my car. I would go for something high quality like Sylvania if I was you. From what I hear the new BMW M5 comes with Sylvania bulbs to give you an idea. Those headlights look dope. Also, the higher the kelvin, the less light output. The 4300K's will be the brightest.

Check out this link: http://www.acura-tl.com/forum/showth...threadid=45886

That's my 99 TL with the 6000k HIDs. There is also a comparison with another 99 TL with the stock oem HIDs (4300k).

Correction, the 6000k is nothing like the stock lights! The 6000k is brighter and bluer than stocks and even BMWs.

4300k (stock) = white
6000k = bluish/white (imo, perfect)
8000k = purple (cop magnet)

the ones in the fogs would look dull compared to the headlights. just ask 96tl. he has some pics of when he did a 6000k in the headlights and 4300k in the fogs. the best thing to do is to match them up.

I don't know if you all are aware of this, but....

6000K's come in white, purple, and blue. Just thought I'd let you all know if you didn't. I have the 6000K aftermarket kit in my Ram, and have installed many others and like the "crystal white" (which is the purple), the best.

heh so realize this is a REALLY old thread but i've been looking around and i guess my question still isn't answered. i want the brightest light possible to come out of my headlights, i dont care about blue or purple or whatever tint it may have, i just want the brightest and clearest light output available. lots of people have done the upgrade to 4100k or 4300k and some have done 6000k. which one is brighter? the 4k range or the 6k range? like i said, i just want the brightest light out there at night.

ya but the higher the kelvin, the less light output you get. and the lower the kelvin, the less light output. there's a happy medium and i dont know if it's 4000 or 6000.

8000k is not purple, you guys got it all wrong.

4300k = stock HID's on ALL cars (the only difference is the type of lens, and headlight)
6000k = super white (pure bright white)
8000k = bright blue
10000k = purple
12000k = lime green

Those are the real deal JDM specs for HID's

mmm...like a 3000k would be pale yellowish and it wouldn't give off much light. and a 8000k would be very blueish so it would be better than yellow, but not as bright as white. and the higher you go, the more colors there are but then you get farther and farther away from the white light.

Just bought HIDs and installed them today. WOW! they are frickin amazing. i got the 6000k kit, $238 shipped and it took me less than 10 minutes to install them. at first i hated not being able to turn my brights on (the lights shut off when i flick the brights on) but i adjusted the angle of the lights so they point a little more upward to compensate for just the low beam and now that i did that, they're almost as bright as my original brights were. simply great! would never get halogen again.

that site has a decent price for the conversion kit, but I didn't see a brand mentioned.

For those of you who are running the conversion kits are you using glare shields with the H4 bulbs?

5300k-6000k = blue/purpleish (it's white but u can see a lil bit of purple/blueish).
