gas light

does this happen on anyone elses tl?

Mine will come on, then slowly fade away within 15 seconds. Don't know if that means i need more gas immediately or not.

Yes, i know the gas light means i'm out of fuel (or close to).

It will come on and off as the gas moves around in the tank. Once it comes on you have about 50 KMS of EASY driving before it's completely empty (trust me, I ran out once! NOT FUN!)

Ya when the light comes on, you have cloes to a gallon of gas left or so. That way if you were out in the middle of no where, you have some time to get to a gas station. So don't worry, it is scary when it comes on, but many of my friends drive on E forever, haha.

It's normal. Don't sweat it. Try not to make your gas get that low anyway though.

when you let it get that low that the light comes on then all the crap on the bottom of ur gas tank gets into the system and over time that can be a killer, try to refuel at about 1/4 left if possible then you would have absolutly nothin to worry bout

dont the fuel lines draw fuel from the bottom of the tank anyways. So it wouldnt really matter if the tank was fulll or not; any gunk is still gonna get in.

so about 40-50 miles (conservative estimate)? as long as there are no runs to the redline

and is it 2.5 gals from the time the light starts lighting up and going out....or when the light is constantly on.

i wouldnt wait until its completely empty anyways.. might not get enough pressure or something so your car might stall or sputter etc...

How low on the needle does it need to get before the light comes on? I was on E for a while but the light never came on, i thought the light might be dead and I'd rather not risk it. I'm usually filling up when 1/4 left so I don't get that low anyways, but still curious.

I don't think I've ever seen my light come on, don't think I have ever let it get below 1/4 tank. I usually keep it up above that, fill the tank after 200 miles or so. I wouldn't let it run that low though, even if it means just $5 here and there.

My gas light used to come on, but doesn't come on at all anymore.. is it possible that the bulb burnt out? and if so, how am I going to replace it?? I'm going to be getting back there to swap the D4/D1 bulbs so I might as well take care of everything.

thanks.

i have never seen the gas light in my TL so i dont even know what to look for. i am guessing a yellow light with a gas pump on it. i being in the automotive business know the dangers and risks of a contaminated fuel system and would never let the car get close to E.

Follow te advise of Clark Howard, whenever you see cheap gas, fill her up. Do not let it go below 1/4, then you always have the option of finding the cheapest gas. Low-low gas, means you will grab the 1st Gas Station, you pay dearly for it.

GAS IS EXPENSIVE!!!!! Specially the premiuim!

I meant cheaper premium gas, not the lower grade....93 is what you need, some people do 91 + 93. Works, too.
