I own a 1998 tl 3.2. When I purchased the car I received an acura key fob with two buttons(lock and unlock). Im getting older and lazier and plan on keeping my 1G untill the wheels fall off. I was looking on fleabay and came across a factory key fob that had four buttons(unlock,lock,trunk open, and panic). http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-02...item1c1b93ef41 please tell me im right or wrong but would this four button fob actually work for my tl? Im guessing a dealership could help me after purchase? Like i said im getting old and lazy...lol Thanks!

 

IIRC it won't work. 1st gen TL doesn't have remote trunk release so it only comes with 2 button remote. And I believe it also have different FCC ID as well. You can do a quick search of 1st gen forum.

 

BTW that remote in the link is for 2nd gen TL. 99-03, seller probably got the years mixed up.

What is the solar thing? Can't you get one for yours? I mean I had a lower model civic and just had tobmodify my wiring harness ect...

 

Mine is already wired for alarm system both the factory and aftermarket and I don't have a remote for either one...lol Using the key to lock/unlock for now...haha

 

sry...maybe check fleabay(be careful, if ur like me you come across stuff like the wrong fob). I have a jeep wrangler...I don't even lock it ne more. Useless to use a key. Its been broke into four times. Yea I finally decided to move and just stop locking it. Now they get mad when there is absolutely nothing to steal...lol

 

When I bought my 2.5 98 I only got a silly ass key with no remote. Can I buy one of these E-bay ones and program it myself or do I risk fn up badly and having the security kill switch shut everything down?

It's not that bad really especially considering I paid a hundred bucks for the car, but I'd reaaaaally love my lock/unlock switch.

 

I have the factory remote, and it kinda sucks. I have to be within 20 feet of the car for it to work. Yes, I have good batteries in it.

i never knew the tl had an alarm when i first bought it until on day i left my bro in the car, and while i was inside church he came in running telling me my alarm is going off! i was wtf huuhhhhhhhh.
