Engine Pan
I noticed that I have an oil leak, so I took it to my mechanic. He told me that it may be caused by a bent engine pan and it would cost too much too fix, so just leave it for now. Meanwhile the oil keeps on leaking and I am concerned. Does anyone know how much an engine pan may cost or how I should take care of this leak?

It's not leaking too much yet, but I'm sure it will leak in increasing amounts as time goes on. I'm not sure if it can be welded shut, but I will find out.

if there was a hole the you would have leaked out all your oil by now.
you cant weld that, its just not safe.
you should look around at local junkyards because they are out here

Ouch - I just looked it up and a new oil pan for your car is $372. Maybe there's one at a junk yard you could pick up.
If you want to go the "seal it up" route, use some JB Weld to fill in any holes (if there are any). Don't use JB weld as a gasket - you'll never the oil pan back off.

Ghetto riggin? When cured, that stuff is stronger than aluminum, machinable, chemical resistant, and much easier to work with.
Do you know how hard it is to weld aluminum? Most welders won't even try it.

IMHO... drive your car for a couple more weeks 2 or 3 depending on how much you get paid each week... don't forget to put oil in there because of the leak... go to the dealer... and buy one off them... have them put it on... that is the best way you know that your oil pan will not leak anymore... its going to be gaurenteed that it won't leak anymore for a certain amount of miles and time... and you won't have to go through the hassle of welding anything... then again... if you feel up to the challenge of doing it yourself or taking it to a shop that will probably put some ghetto modified aluminum Ford escort oil pan then thats up to you... take pics if you DIY

people use jb weld like its super glue. use it for everything. i have not had good experiences with that shit. when it cures it may be strong but if it gets hot enough it will lose its strength. also over time that shit loses strength so in the long run its not really stronger. if its either fix it right and be done or worrying about that jb weld not holding, i will do it right the first time
