Engine Check Light on because of burnt out bulb?

Yesterday, going back from work, I noticed that my engine check light had lit up. I find this strange since I only have 97k miles/157k km on the car. Driving back home tonight, I noticed that my passenger side fog light is burned out as well. This got me thinking; Is it possible that a burnt out fog light triggered the ECL, or is it just a coincidence.

I'm also wondering if it isn't too weird that I'm getting a ECL on a car with this little mileage on it.

no they are not related

CEL is not unusual with 50k miles.... if something is wrong
Go to parts store and get codes pulled and report back
Could be EGR port plugged- or bad O2 sensor- or bad coil or.......

yeah, make sure your gas cap was turned to at least 3 clicks (it then takes about 3-4 trips for the engine light to turn off.) hmmm check if your air filter is dirty or you may need a new oxygen sensor.

I still have to go check that stuff out since I haven't had the time yet. I'm somehow thinking that it's the EGR valve(or what ever you call it), just because I've seen so many posts about it on here.

the egr valve is not the prob you are reading here- its the EGR ports inside the intake manifold- but it would be odd to get a code from them just being dirty

Get the codes read then we can offer real help

I haven't had the time to go get the codes for the CEL, but interestingly enough, the light went off a few days after changing the engine oil/filter. I was roughly 1500km past the time that the oil should have been changed, so do you guys think that this was the cause for the CEL to light up.

And my fog light started working again aswell - looks like this car repairs itself.
