Question Double Din Decks

Okay so I am having trouble deciding on a brand of deck for my TL, I want a double din deck, with Bluetooth and GPS would be nice but not a must. I want the BEST! quality, Alpine and Pioneer seem to be the two suggested to me most but I'd like more opinions, so tell me what brand you think is the best quality and if you know anything about them please feel free to spread the knowledge. Thanks!

I run a Pioneer deck. It's cool. I like the older stuff in the US because they were easier to defeat, versus some of the newer GPS-based ones where we have to solder. I think you can figure out what I'm talking about.

The deck is just one part of a system, though, and while I have had people say my system sounds like an a/d/s setup, I feel my deck is the weak link.

Good to know, and I get it soldering a deck can be anoying, but I like to do things as best as possible when it comes to a car like the TL, my 4x4 I just used crimp connectors, sometimes I look at plug in harnesses, but with the TL I plan to solder anyhow, I am confident in my solder ability, and I find its the best way to go, as I'm sure there wont be any plug adapters for the deck I buy.

No, that's not what I meant. The defeat involved opening the unit and soldering some connections on the board to bypass a GPS check.

Some units used GPS to see if you were moving and would disable front video, displaying only navi, while the rear screen is still working. Pointless if no one is sitting in the back.

i got a pioneer avh-3100. i like it. no gps but its what i could afford at the time. i like it alot tho. i got my girl a 3200 and its really nice the graphics and coloring r alot sharper. my opinion... go with a pioneer. also, u may want to buy a hack/bypass online somewhere so u can upload ur own pics and watch movies without a problem. i got one off ebay for $15 and it works perfect. good luck

I'm using a 6.5" motorised, not a double DIN, because while it's cleaner to run a double DIN, I'm worried about people punching the screen when shifting into park. I've had it happen with idiots who can't palm the shift knob.

Only happened a few times, and I've since given up. One was at a Big O when they changed management so I wasn't allowed to drive my car off the lift myself. One of the "techs" pulled it out to the driveway, and slammed it into park. I just stood there staring in shock. I remind him that I had specifically said not to throw it into park when he pulled it onto the lift. All I got back was a blank, soulless stare. After that I went into the office and complained while paying, and they apologised.

Come back out to see my car moved across the street, with the engine off and keys on the roof. Seeing that same "tech" was taking his sweet time to cross the road back to the service bay, I already knew he screwed something else up. I get to the car and see that he had put it in 2 because I told him not to throw it into park... Twice... In 45 minutes...

~Cheers~

^ Wow unbelievable, did they attempted to reimburse you for what the "tech" did?
