door key hole prob

I don't have a car alarm anymore so i have been sticking my key into the key hole to unlock my door. The problem now is that when i put the key in, i am not able to turn it. If i move the key around a bit, it will then turn and unlock my door. Am I the only one with this problem?

I have the same problem, but only with the ignition. One side of the key is worn out, so I have to make sure the correct side is always inserted.

That used to happen to me once in a while, stick the key in, wouldn't really turn to unlock, so I would re-lock them, then unlock them.

IIRC, I just sprayed a little bit of lube in there and haven't really had a problem since.

Graphite is best lubricant for locks. It will stay in place. WD40 will evaporate quickly and require replacement.

good luck

Not certain, but would think autozone and sears would have graphite. It's a dry powder lubricant in a small squeeze bottle. Simply squirt some in and work key a few times to distribute.

good luck

Don't ever use any liquid lubricant for key holes. It might work fine at first but as dirt and sand grains get stuck in there, it will slowly destroy the lock.

I don't know if Wal-Mart would have it. There's several brand names. I think the biggest one is Slip Plate. Graphics lubricant is the actual stuff. It's also called dry lubricant.
