Could It Be My Fluids?? pls read!

Brief story in need of big help. Last wekk I went to Richmond, VA about 5-6hrs. away (from jer-z), Anyway going down was fine on the way back up my thermostat started to raise highly and quickly about 3 hrs into the drive.

so I pulled over and let the fan cool down the engine thinking maybe because I was doing about 90-95 for the entire 3 hrs that the engine could possibly just be too hot.

so I got out checked my anti-freeze..(FULL) and oil (GOOD) soooo....
I had this problem a little while ago where my idle was reving constantly and always overheating..but the problem was no anti-freeze got a tune up and all fluids changed havent had the problem til. now so now what.?? I still have about 1000 mi. to go b4 an oil change so im really lost guys.

AND on top of all that its kinda warming up here and my AC doesnt get as cold as it use to be so could it be something to do with the anti-freeze? HEEEELP PLEASE!!

If your radiator cooling fans are working, you may have a bad ( stuck ) thermostat. If the thermostat is good, then you may have damaged the head the last time it overheated and now it is showing up from the recent long trip.

AHHHH I hope not, thanx for tha info. Theres no sign of anything leaking from the tailpipe tho (in refrence to the head gasket.) if that is a sure sign about it being damaged.

I'm goin to change (or have someone change I mean) the thermostat 2moro and I'll update.

I would say thermostat too.

If the car says its overheating but it doesn't act like it is, thermo.

Just one other thought: With the car warmed up and the engine running, find the bleed off valve on the top radiator pipe and just barely crack it open to see if there is an air bubble in the line. These things are notorious for that.

well no problems (overheating again) as of yet.. I've been doing double shifts @ work so cant really work on it by the time I get home. But I did get an early oil change and had my fluids replaced. we'll see how that works out for now.

I think this weekend I will change out that thermo anyway just to be on the safe side, ya kno since its not that expensive.

Here is what you should try. 1) start your engine 2) let it warm to operating temp 3) depressurize the radiator cap 4) remove the radiator cap (remember to keep car runnig) 5) put on eye protection and watch for air comming up thorgh the radiator. Alot of bubble could mean a blown head gasket.

Or it could be the Temperature sensor (other than the thermostat). That happened on my Camry. It shut down the engine because it thought that the engine was running hot. The sensor was malfunctioning.
