Check engine light

I was wondering, the only time i seen my check engine light come on is when I first put my key in and turn it forward. Besides that I never seen it come on, also I never seen my gas light come on and I know the car is far enough down on empty where it should come on. Does this sound strange to anyone?? Is something not working??

well if you don't see it come on that's good. the only reason it comes on when you first start your car is because your car runs a check and turns on almost all the gauge lights, such as that one, the parking brake light, etc. that's normal.....not seeing it on later is good normally, cars with "low fuel" lights will come on when the car has 2 gallons of gas in it and will stay on until it is filled up over the 2 gallon mark.

i'm actually unsure on that one. i'm pretty sure there is on mine, but it's a 96 2.5. i would assume the newer ones would have it.

Yes, it does. It's right above the fuel gauge, if I remember correctly.

Yes, but it was a long while ago since I don't usually let it go down that low. I usually fill up when the needle hits the last quarter.
