acura nsx

Hello everybody
I saw an acura nsx 1993 with 83,000 miles on ebay
and it had the Buy it Now option for us $ 8,600.00 dollars
so I said to myself this is impossible.
the auction didn't have location but the member rating was like 99.1 %
so I e-mailed the person just asking what was his/her location
2 days after without answer
then I checked ebay again and the auction was
gone
I had it on my watch list and I couldn't see it anymore
today I checked my e-mail and I found this =
Hello there,

Thank you for your interest in my car. I want you to know that I have closed
my auction earlier because someone has offered me the buy it now price, but
didn't have all the money available and I cannot accept financing because
time is a real issue for me. The price I want to obtain for it is $8,600US
(this price includes shipment and insurance charges).

My wife was recently promoted so we had to move in France. We brought the
car with us, wanting to register it here, but I couldn't because it is a US
vehicle and to get it registered here it will need serious engine
modifications in order to comply with the EU emission standards. So that is
why I prefer to sell it quick now and get rid of it while I still can,
because time is running and I can't keep it like that, there is a deadline
term when I must pay the import tax, so I can't afford to lose time and I
prefer to make some money while I still can.

The car is like new, completely working,89600 miles, 1993 model. It is US
model with US specs and passed the US test emissions. The car is insured in
case of damage and you will receive it in 8-9 working days by Lufthansa at
your home address. The title is clear and you will register it in your state
without problems. I will send the car having written on it 'gift' so you
won't have to pay any additional taxes. It will come with all the papers
(warranty, insurance etc. ...).

The shipping costs and the insurance taxes of the package will be down to me
and you only pay for the money transfer commission when you wire the funds,
which is about 4% from the total amount sent.

I am requesting a $4,000 US refundable deposit prior shipping and the
balance to be paid after delivery and inspection. If you are not 100%
content with the car, you will ship it back on my expense to get your
deposit back. I am sure this will not happen, because it is a state of the
art vehicle and you will have no reason not to be content with it.

This is a large purchase and I would like to use a third party for this
transaction as I want a smooth and safe transaction. We will use Square
Trade, I have completed a lot of successful deals using them. I have a
purchase protection account of $10,000 US with them. If this is your first
time using Square Trade here are their terms: if you will not receive the
car exactly as advertised or you won't receive it in 15 days since you made
the deposit, Square Trade will refund you from my Square Trade account.

If you agree with these terms, please send me your full name, home and
shipping address and your ebay id so I can register the transaction with
Square Trade asap.

Regards,
Matt
sorry for the long post but I want to know what do you guys think

Interesting, ya most NSX new or used are so overpriced it makes me sick. It's an awesome car, but for the price, and how much HP it has, its sad. Ya I dunno, that's pretty cheap. That will def sell QUICK.

Something fishy about it. Why would someone take the car to France without checking out if that car can be registered there without much modifications to the engine and what woulld be a ballpark cost to do it.

I know there have been scams and actually the NSX seems to be the car of choice for most of them...... I gues cause it's considered exotic, and while still realtively expensive, it's not SUPER expensive that a big price drop would affect it THAT much.

Any car in that good condition will cost about 3 or 4 times more.

Even if somebody bought it at [Buy it Now] price. The item should still be listed in your Watch List, right? What is his Ebay username?

The ad has since been removed from ebay. It was an obvious scam and also reported here:

Hello there,

Thank you for your interest in my Chevy. I want you to know that I
closed my
auction earlier because someone has offered me the buy it now price,
but
didn't have all the money available and I cannot accept financing
because
time is a real issue for me. The price I want to obtain for it is
$14,000
(this price includes shippment and insurance charges). We recently
opened a
small business in Greece and we moved here. We found out that we cannot
register the truck here, because it is an US model and Europe
regulations
are different from the US ones. Also we haven't paid yet the duties for
bringing it here and if we sell it back to US there will be no more
duties
to be paid. Now we have our money stucked with this vehicle, and the
low
price is for a fast cash deal.

The truck is like new, completely working, low miles, 2004 model. It is
in
awesome condition and has always been kept in a garage. It is an US
model
with US specs and passed the US test emissions. The title is CLEAR and
CLEAN
and you will have no problem registering it in your state. The truck
will
come with all the papers (title, warranty, insurance etc. ...).

The shipping costs and the insurance taxes of the shipment will be down
to
me and you will pay the fees for transferring the money (about 5% of
the
total amount).

This is a large purchase, so we'll use a third party for this
transaction as
I want a smooth and safe transaction. Since I already used Square Trade
several times before and both me and my partners were more than content
with
them, we'll use their services again. I have a purchase protection
account
of $20,000 with them. If this is your first time using Square Trade
here are
their terms: if you will not receive the truck exactly as advertised or
you
won't receive it in 20 days since you made the deposit, Square Trade
will
refund you from my Square Trade account.

I am requesting a $7,000 REFUNDABLE deposit prior shipping and the
balance
to be paid after delivery and inspection. If you are not 100% content
with
the truck, you will ship it back on my expense to get your deposit
back. I
am sure this will not happen, because this Chevrolet is a state of the
art
vehicle and you will have no reason to reject it.

If you agree with these terms, please send me your full name, home and
shipping address and I will send you more details and I will register
the
transaction with Square Trade asap.

Regards,
Remi.

FYI, the reason the eBay user rating was so high was because the account was hijacked. You should NOT use eBay feedback ratings as a panacea for common sense. When your "too good to be true" alarm is going off, trust it. The seller's rating should be your final measure only after all else checks out.
