Angry CDPEO - CD Player problem

I have a 1997 Acura TL and evrytime I enter a CD to the CD player it says "CDPEO". I cleaned the CD's and even put in a cleanign cd to see if the lens is dirty.

WTF is the problem?

I usually get that when I try to play CD-R's. Try a better brand of CD-R's like Memorex or Sony. If you are using prerecorded CD's, you might have to have the head unit's CD laser realigned.

Stock Unit=POS get a new headunit. Plus sound quality will increase with a new head unit.

That error code on the CD player is probably the most common problem on our car outside the emissions causing the check engine light to come on. The solution: buy an aftermarket unit or seach Ebay for another Acura unit (like I did).

Same thing happened to my CD player. I bought a cleaner from crutchfield, it still didn't work. You will have to buy an aftermarket unit. i got pioneer.

Wow, I never had that problem, I did change my deck but it was purely due to the fact that my amplifier didn't like running off of the line-out adapter I was using. If it weren't for that, I never would have changed it. I never had that cd error problem....guess I was lucky! But NO, b4 y'all get any ideas, I'm not selling my stock deck!! :P

I got a Kenwood deck from a guy I work with at cost (his roomies a dealer), and it was really easy to install, and the install kit I got even had a cubby under the deck. I'd recommend an MP3 player. 130+ songs on each cd!!
Plus I've never installed a deck before, and it was easy in the TL.

P.S. I was getting the same error on my factory deck, and couldnt get it to play anything...and I was getting sick of the radio!

cd not playing

I discovered that mine has no problem playing "real" cd's, but when I play CDR the behaviour is random. It sometimes plays them with a little 'coaxing'. I think the reason is the laser sucks. What I do is buy higher quality CDR's and I also burn them at slower speeds. I've found that 2x works the best (on my crappy 4x burner).

One thing I did notice is that it only does it on humid days, which are rare here in Alberta (it's so damn dry that I always have a bottle of water with me and chapstick, even in the summer).
I do believe you that it'll get worse though. I just hope it lasts me 3 more years until I get a real job and can afford a new TSX.
