Having issues with the car not starting. It will only run if I hold the key trying to turn it over, once I let go the engine stops. I have been having issues with the starter not working right (turn the key and nothing happens), but I don't think thats related to this current problem. Battery is OK as I can turn on the lights and still get the car to turn over. Any suggestions are appreciated.

 

Probably your Starter selonoid.

Electrical part of ignition switch! You can buy the part and do it yourself or if you're lazy like me, go to HONDA!

 

I want to see if I could do a temporary fix (I am at work), then do a starter swap plus whatever the hell is wrong with the car. Any specific part of the ignition switch that I should look at (harness, actual ignition switch +key)?

 

Well, I just drove 15 long miles holding the ignition key, preventing the car from shutting off. Now that I can guess it has to do with the ignition switch, I need to know what components to replace. My hands hurt

Yes, but I wasn't sure what you were talking about until I drove home holding the key in the ignition the whole way. Also after taking apart the covers and examining the component, I can see what you meant. I apologize, but I am a visual person and had no idea what you were talking about.

 

Finally installled the ignition switch, car starts beautifully. Now I dont think I need to touch the starter just yet. Thanks to all for the help!
