anyone else have this problem?

ok so i finally got my new wheels on my 1997 3.2tl. ok first let me show you what im workin with here, the wheels are Konig further. size 17x7.0 offset +40. keep n mind that my car sits at stock height and has no kind of suspension adjustments or aftermarket parts what so ever.

everytime i hit a bump or make a turn the back tires rub. not real sure why. anyone care to tell me how to stop this?

You can see that the rear edge of the tyre is outside of the fender. New shocks will take care of it, but having your fenders rolled will be easier/cheaper.

its not rubbing the fender. its rubbing the metal bar that sits right behind/above the rear tires. would changing thew shocks still solve that?

That's the control arm. A new set of shocks should take care of it, but what are the measurements for your tyres? Your sidewall seems kinda high.

the offset on the wheels is what might have caused it, i haven't known many people to get wheels on a 1g with an offset. what's odd is that your wheels are offset and yet only 7" wide, i'm running 7.5" wides with no offset

^ Offset is the distance from the centre of the rim to the hub. I'm running a +40 offset myself and have no problems.

@OP, 255s? Never hear of a 250... but in any case, a 50 AR for the sidewall on a 255 wide tyre is too tall. a 40 or 45 would be much better.

The reason you were asked about the sound system is for added weight, causing the rear end to sag.

~Cheers~

pretty sure he messed it up and said 250 instead of a 205 because a 205/50/17 is an appropriate size for upgraded wheels/tires. can't really say what the problem is though

Hmm... Still shouldn't have a problem if the shocks are new. Looks like it's time for a replacement.

^ Quite possible, but the ride quality will suffer a bit with very thin tyres.

i cant really tell what that is? its that control arm bar that goes like somwhat over the rear wheels. i talked to acura and they said that the springs will only support the weight of the cars for approx. 50,000 miles then the springs start to soften up...

I have the same problem with a more aggressive offset of +45...I'm pretty sure if you didn't want to the tires to rub your offset would have to be +35 or maybe it's 38?...well a fender roll would probably help but it might not solve the problem completely, as might skinnier tires. I'm going to buy new shocks (illuminas) and just adjust the dampening level accordingly...ride might be shittier but it's better than having your fenders hit the tires on every bump.

That is not an aggressive offset, m8. Colt45's -12mm is. Our stocks are around +42, and the higher you go number-wise, the closer to the car the rim will sit. For example: 7" +55mm will be tucked, 7" +20mm will be sticking out.

~Cheers~

i sold the original wheels when i first took them off the car about a year ago. before the wheels that are on there now i had stock 17'' wheels off of a acura cl-s. the 6 star ones though not the 5 star, and they are sitting in my garage.
