Aftermarket Stereo and Security Code

My stock CD player is giving me problems and won't play certains CDs so I'm thinking of just replacing it with an aftermarket cd player. My question is how will this affect the stereo security code or is it irrelevant? If I need to replace my battery in the future will I need to enter the code again for my stereo to work? Thanks all for any input.

Nope, the security code is tied into the factory headunit, not the factory wiring. Your new headunit might have its own security features you will want to know about though.

I just ordered an aftermarket cd receiver from Crutchfield and plan on installing myself...hopefully it wouldn't be too complicated since they provide me with free kits instructions. Anyone who installed an aftermarket unit themselves have any good tips? Also will I need to do anything special if I just want the unit to work with the stock speakers? I read on one of these threads that it wouldn't work with the speakers or something like that. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

I just got an alpine from crutchfield and the install is pretty easy. They give you step by step instructions with pictures and it is specific to our car. It works fine with the stock speakers and sounds ALOT better. Someone said that the tweeters won't work anymore but I haven't noticed any difference.

I got a scoshe dash kit with a pocket from good guys because the one crutchfield gives you is hokey. Other than that, it worked out great.
