Advice/Help

I want to put a new engine and a new transmission into my 98 2.5. I think that with a 5 gear tranny and a bigger engine my car will fly. So, is there any recommendations on what engine to buy, and does anyone know if there is a 5 gear automatic transmission that fits into my car?

Also while on this topic, is is true that the 2.5 was supposed to be the spotrier model between the 3.2 and the 2.5?

You'll need to do some serious fabrication work to get anything other than the G25 motor in your car. Its not worth the cost.

There are no 5 speed automatics that will work with your car.

You COULD (with enough cash) get a 5 speed manual from an Acura Vigor and go that route.

And yes, the 2.5 is a bit sportier in terms of handling. The 3.2 rides slightly better, but with less precise handling.

Its actually 60/40 on both models. The differences are all in the suspension.

Yes, that is approximately our weight distribution. Overall weight is also a discerning factor, as the 2.5s do weigh substantially less. Unless you've got loads of cash, a few screws loose, and race professionally like one of my good friends, specific weight distribution shouldn't matter so much. My buddy has his suspension dialed in as such: the two front springs has the *exact* same spring rate and load characteristics. Now that may sound normal, but factor this in: that's with him strapped in wearing a full fire suit. You've got to do what you've got to do when you're geared for 225MPH in a unibody!
