I have a 97 TL I bought about 2 months ago. It has about 112000 miles and ran fine until about a month ago. I will be driving and the engine begins to chug. I will be pressing on the gas and the RPMs will spike over 5 or 6 but the car does not increase in speed. The whole car will jerk while it spikes.it use to only do it for a short time but today the car barely starts and just chugs and jerks constantly. I have replaced the spark plugs, replaced the tail pipe and put a fuel injectors in the gas tank. Please help!

 

hopefully timing belt been replace rite?

 

I am not sure when it was replaced last. It was inspected and looks fine. We believe it may be the alternator.
