hey guys, i've had my car for 3 weeks now, and i love it. It always seem fast and i have raced before and won. But my friend has a 01 Olds Intrigue and me and him raced last night at about 12:00 pm. we were going 60 and right beside each other we both hit it, i pulled out in front then he slow pulled up then i pulled back out in front ( by this time i'm screaming and shouting) then my car shifts to 4th gear, and thats it, all my power just LEAVES, my friend pulls out in front of me and just kills me, ITS LIKE A MILE A MINUTE, i caught up like 10 secs later due to the fact the OLDS governor is set to 110, so i passed him. BUT IS THIS NORMAL, 4TH GEAR DOESNT PULL GOOD, OR DO I NEED A TUNE UP OR SOMETHING, I'M MAD CAUSE 4TH GEAR SUCKS, ANY INFO WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED THANKS

Yes, this is normal. 4th gear is an overdrive and it isn't really meant to be used for racing. Whenever I try to take someone on, I manually shift through the gears. I know this isn't really "Sport Shift", but it does the job and shifts the gears a tiny bit faster than the auto. Also, you can hold the gears longer than you would be able to in full auto mode....

Yeah, I raced a bonneville last nite. I let the transmission shift for me and he had 2 carlengths to start out, and we went neck and neck. If I shifted BASISON did, I would've probably beaten him.

sometimes when I race I throw it into 3rd. Much quicker get up and go...

is shifting manually bad for the transmission ? i dont want to f up my baby like that ?

The only time "manually shifting" is bad, is when you put it in neutral, rev it up and then throw it into drive. Don't do that. Otherwise, you should be fine.

thanks a bunch guys, who knows i might ask for a rematch, LOL :wow: so i should shift manually, cool
