Ok, last night when I was driving home, the check engine light came on. I have about 1/3 tank of gas, & filled up last time, so it's not a loose gas cap.

What could it be?

Is there a way to check the codes? In a previous life I had a 90' buick century & if you took a paper clip, unfolded it, & touched terminals 2 & 8 below the steering column under the dash, with the key in the on position, it would flash the code sequence via the check engine light.

go to autozone they will check the code for you for free

 

yeah go to auto zone the part where they plug it in is under the coin thing your going to have to pull the thing out
