2.5TL owners

I was wondering if you have the wood trim in the lower center console area like the 3.2s. I have a 97 2.5 and have it.

This one doesn't. This is an image from cardomain...a 1997 2.5TL

What's the difference between the premium model and the regular 2.5 model?

Regular or base model of the 2.5 does NOT the woodtrim in the center console.

I believe it has cloth seats, no moonroof and no woodtrim for the door handles.

So if the 2.5 has leather, moonroof, woodtrim everywhere, CD changer then it's a premium model?

Right, but not around the shifter or the door handles. 2.5 P and all 3.2's have that.

What year is your car?

There were a few minor changes done to the 2.5 TL's over the 4 years of the model cycle.

I've been TRYING to look up info on all these changes but there is almost nothing online.

yeah it's weird... me too!!

I have a:

1997 2.5TL base model and i have wood on my door handles!!
I have cloth seats and no moonroof. No wood around the shifter.

my friend has a:

1998 2.5TL and he doesn't have wood on the door handles!!
he has leather seats and a moonroof. No wood around the shifter.

i don't know if his is a premium or base model though. i think it's base

but don't forget... if you bought your TL used then you don't know what extra accessories the previous owner bought!!

like with me if i sold my TL ...my TL is a 97 2.5 base model but i bought the OEM wood around the shifter!!

I bought my TL used and i think maybe the guy before me bought the wood on the door handles? ...and mines a base model!

Ya that I do know. It got kind of confusing, cause some 2.5's had that wood on the doors, and some didn't. But all 3.2's had the wood on the doors, and around the center, etc.

thats funny you guys are discussing this. This is a huge pet peeve of mine
i have a 96 tl 2.5 leather seats, moonroof, but no wood grain on the doors nor the center console. I just found someone that is going to sell me all four wood grains (OEM) for the doors for 125 shipped. What do you guys think about that price? Is it fair??

Weird...you got basically the same ride as me, same color ext/int and all the options except that one piece...so why would they not put the wood trim in the center console too?

1998 Acura 2.5 TL Pearl White with everything WOOD...

I think all 98's came with standard wood... about the earlier years, it must have been an option... knock about $500 bucks for the woodless... its just my logical guess...

96 2.5

i have a 1996 2.5 Tl premium with leather moonroof but no wood trim on the handles or the console and would like to do something about that. i saw one tl with wood over the ashtray as well. i think the wood makes it look alot better, but too much makes it look cheap because its fake, kinda like an accord.

Yeah, the 1998 TL's got EVERYTHING standard.* The '98 2.5 also got the 3.2's keyless remote.

*Only option for '98 TL's was traction control on the 3.2's.

Weird

Read this:

For the 1998 model year, the TL Series is available in a single fully appointed trim level for the 2.5TL and 3.2TL models. By including additional standard features on each model, the TL series becomes an even better value for 1998. New features that are now standard on the 3.2TL are heated front seats and heated door mirrors. The 1998 2.5TL now includes features formerly available only with the optional Premium Package such as leather-trimmed interior, power moonroof, plus new features including a keyless entry system and heated mirrors.

His friend got jacked... lol... I got everything on mine... Heated side mirrors... moon/sun/astro(80's terms) roof... all the fake wood trim... etc... except not the heated seats... i would of like that... oh well my baby is garaged (Insulated) anyways... so no worries there ... I wonder if the 3.2 heated seats can be swapped for the 2.5 non-heated???

I think 95 - 97 everything was an option... that is my best guess... and with ken's findings kind of makes it 99.99% chance that they were options until 98, the end of the 1st Gen TL when they all became standard... unless a dealer actually did swap the wood for an older model and left the 98 w/o its wood and sold it like that... you never know...

I'm confused about this whole "premium" thing! My car is a 1996 2.5TL, and it has leather, heated mirrors, wood trim, etc etc, but no heated seats and no sunroof. Which one is it?

Hmm.. weird..

Maybe for the 2.5 the sunroof was an option ?

There were never any heated seats for the 2.5 that I know of.

I forgot! Yes, Canadian models ARE different. For years they offered heated mirrors in Canada and never in the US except on the Legends and later certain TL's.

That would explain the heated seats!
