2.5 TL Radiator
2.5 TL Radiator
I have 1998 2.5 TL and recently the car developed a crack in the plastic on the underside of the Radiator. I bought my TL last year as my (beater car) and it only had 35,000 miles on it. Now it has around 50K on it and I was wondering if other 2.5 TL owners had any radiator issues with such low mileage. My TL was not a certified preowned and there for the warranty is expired and a replacement radiator from the dealer is like $500+. I found this online and I wanted to know if this part was the same thing as the dealer would have?

I had the same problem
I had the same problem with my car. Actually what happened to mine was that instead of it leaking, It started to overheat my car. I had to purchase another radiator. I bought an aftermarket one, instead of purchasing it from the dealer. Paid a lot less and has worked fine for me. The same problem happened to me on my 93 Acura Vigor. I guess I have bad radiator luck. But I would not trade my car for that reason. I love the way it looks
I dont remember what the shop put on for me.. but it works and was a whole lot cheaper. The dealer I know wants like 450 dollars. But to change the radiator parts included they charged me like 170, cannot beat that price

I had the same problem as carbuff, my radiator cracked in the plastic near the top. I had an Acura/Honda independant garage order me a radiator. It was a "Koyo". The part cost me $225 and took me like an hour- hour and a half (drink'n beer and take'n my time). The dealer quoted me $700 after labor and the part. Do it yourself.
Mine cracked at 195k.
My service guy put an after market one, cost me about $275.00. Ever since the new one, my fan hardley comes on after I shut off the engine. guess, it cools the engine
much better.
Dealer wanted $700.00 for parts and $200.00 for labor.

I had a crack in the plastic on the upper part of the radiator. Instead of paying the dealer $900 (700 parts + 200 labor) - I bought an aftermarket one for $145 (including shipping and handling) and paid $60 labor. Radiatorbarn.com has pretty neat (and cheap) stuff...and their customer support is excellent.
