Windshield wipers... work when THEY want to
Windshield wipers... work when THEY want to
so, it's winter time in Missouri and of course we need our wipers to work... well, not sure why this happens, but sometimes i can drive around and everything works fine.
Then other times, I will need the wipers to work and they won't... i have sprayed my windshield to clean it off and the wipers will not work... kind of a safety issue. sometimes, i will be using them and they do a few passes and stop out of no where.
In the summer, this doesn't happen at all. But now it does it in the winter... if i hit a bump just right, they will come back on. Sometimes, if i force them up a bit on the windshield, they will work again...
I need to check for a lose fuse, but in case that doesn't fix it, where else should i check. this is becoming very annoying and wondering if there is a lose wire or connection in a plug somewhere...
any thoughts or help are welcomed.

I would take a look at your wiper motors, if the problem isn't there, maybe your switch is going bad.
Scratch that, look at your switch first, THEN look at your motors. Try pushing your wiper switch in different directions, wiggle it around a bit, if you can recreate the problem, then you know where it lies.

checked the fuses and they were fine... left for work this morning and tried the wipers... did one pass and then nothing... drove 5 miles to work and tried a few times to see if they would work, again nothing.
When i got to the parking lot, i tried it once more... they worked fine and i cleaned off the windshield... even though i didn't have to drive anymore... -__- *ugh*

So it sounds like the problem is more apparent when the vehicle is in motion. I wonder is a wire got loose, or perhaps the motors are going bad. Take a volt meter and open up access to the mechanics, test the wipers and see what readings you get. If they are intermittent, there is a problem between the motor leads and the switch, so long as the switch is getting the appropriate power.
From the technical info thread:
Speed-Sensitive Intermittent Wiper
To accommodate the differing quantities of water encountered at different speeds, the RL is equipped with an automatic, speed-sensitive intermittent wiper system that slows down the wipers when the RL is stopped or moving slowly, and increases their speed when vehicle velocity increases.

The wipers can be on any setting, and they will randomly work or not work...
If they were set to be on, and won't work, I turn them off. BUT... if I hit a bump, it will turn on once and stop. If I turn them back on, they work fine until they decide to say "fuck it"
This ONLY happens in the winter. It did it last year as well. Was fine all of Spring, Summer, and Fall...
