2002 RL Shifter

I think what you are describing is pretty normal. Unless you got some corrosion in the mechanics or something. It's probably just the spring lock thingy that keeps the shifter from accidentally moving while the car is in motion.
Has this how the shifter has always been since the time you have owned the car? Or did this just recently become a problem?
