things to look out for when buying a used RL?

hi, I'm in search of a RL and I want to know what are common or uncommon problems with used RL's.

I've seen a few 2002-04, I really like the '04 I saw, but if that gets sold I want to know about the newer ones also.

Buy 02+, from what I've heard/researched the suspension changed by quite a bit in 2002 which gave it a much nicer ride.

Of course the 04 is money due to options, last year of body style, etc. Personally I think the 2002 wheels are the best out of the 1st gen RL's.

I have an 02 and I like it a lot. I've had it since January.

I'd look for a good maintenance history, otherwise these cars are pretty solid.

I don't think the suspension will bother me, I'm planning on lowering the car quite a bit thanks

What about the Acura trannys, ive heard they have had transmission issues?

was it only the TL's CL's?

The RL's did not have transmission problems. It was a different vendor that Honda used for a while in the late 90's early 00's that the issue was with. I believe it was mostly:
01-03 CL
99-03 TL
01-02 MDX

RL's were never a part of that batch. Also, RL's are built in Japan so they're slightly different from the CL/TL/MDX, which are built in US/Canada

Be careful with differential seal leaks. It's a $6.00 pat, but the labor is expensive as hell.
