Tachometer causes oil light warning
Tachometer causes oil light warning
I have a 2003 RL with 103,000 miles but this situation has been happening for quite a while. The tachometer will stop working while driving but it will start working again after a short period of time. When it starts working again, the oil light will start blinking red. The first time this happened I didn't realize the tachometer had stopped and started. I only noticed the oil light flashing and stopped to check the oil level. After you shut the engine off and then restart it, the tachometer works and the oil light is off. There is no oil problem and the fuses all tested good. Any ideas?
No. The instrument cluster has never been opened. I did hear years ago that this model has a problem with water getting into the fuse box which might be the cause of this problem. Has anybody also heard of this?
Is it ONLY the tach or the entire cluster? Sounds like there might be some loose wires that's causing the tach/oil light to disconnect and then reconnect. Doesn't the oil light blink when you first turn on the car?
