Check engine light-oil lose--help!!!!

Heres the deal, I was driving home tonight and all of a sudden the check engine light comes on. I drove the car a couple more minutes until I got home and than I popped the hood. My first instinct was to check the oil level. To tell you the truth when the light came on i was a little worried but I just figured it was nothing. Well when I checked the oil, there was none on the stick. I checked for leaks all over and there was none. I even looked where I park my car every night and there was none there either. I added oil, disconnected the battery and then reconnected it and started it up. The check engine light went off, but now I am left with the problem that i did not have enough oil. I changed the oil myself about 1400 miles ago and added 4 quarts. I am so confused, I am beginning to hate my cl. Can some one please help me.!!!!!

Not an oil issue. Not sure why the stick had none on it, but if you were low on oil, your oil pressure light would have come on.

Take it to the dealer.

If I remember right, the the are between the 2 dots almost represents a quart. So if there was none on the stick then you might be at least a quart low. And I also beleive that our cars take 4.5 quarts. I might be totally off, but if you only added 4 quarts then you would read low on the stick. Hope this helps in any way.
