Oil Pressure Light?

This morning my oil pressure light came on and I pulled over and checked the oil like the manual said and I barely had any oil in the car. When I turned the car back on the light went off and didnt come back on. What do you think caused this besides being low on oil even though I dont have any leaks? What should I do next?

put enough oil in it
that light just doesnt go away, you know
you might have got it to go out but you always got to make sure there is enough oil

also when the car is hot - you have to let it cool down alittle to get a somewhat acurate reading of you dipstick.

last, if there is no leaks then the oil could be burning. any smoke?

I have no leaks and no smoke and the car didnt overheat. The light just came on out the blue. Definitely no oil though. No sure where it went.

your piston rings are probably going and the oil is being burned slowly

It's either re-build or keep a jug of oil in your car to top it up. If it's leaking that bad and got to a point where there was no oil...might have done some damage. You should NEVER drive a car with no oil. I hope since it has happened that you topped it up IMMEDIATELY. I would keep an eye on it and get an oil change done soon as well. Have them double check for leaks when they do. Have a friend stand behind the car and whatch for blue smoke as you floor the gas. If there is any then yes it is being burned off. And as was said before, there are two options, re-build the motor or just keep topping it up for now. Re-building is a MAJOR job, just make sure to have the cylinders properly honed when you replace the rings.
