Hi guys,

I need your help. My speedometer and odometer stopped working in my 97 RL which has 198,000 miles.

I turned it on the car last night and the center speedo and odometer didn't work. The tachometer(on left) and the gas, and temperature gauge(on right) still work great.

Any idea what could be the problem?? Any advice would be great. Thank You

 

Sounds like the speed sensor. Small piece that goes into the tranny that sends a signal back to the ecu and speedo on how fast the car is traveling.

No Sorry I do not know a price. Your going to have to call around to see if someone can verify thats the issue and how much it'll cost to fix.

 

Well today my speedometer started working but not my digital odometer.

Anyone know what could be the problem?

So far I suspect it might be vehicle speed sensor, transmission speed sensor, or faulty instrument cluster.

 

I have an 03 and all of a sudden the digital display doesnt show up and then it randomly does, but the last week it 80% does not display. On top of that, I cant reset the trip odometer either, it makes a beep noise when I press the reset button but thats it. It's a moot point though if the display isnt showing up anyway.

Anyone come across this before and had it fixed?
