My son put our 2002 RL in a ditch way in. after having towed out I figure it was totaled but it didn't look to bad. It started right up, and we Drove it in to the garage we removed the driver headlight popped the bumper out and took off the fender. I was going to drive it to the service shop to have the undercarriage checked. It would start , I checked no spark it is one tough car any ideas on where to look

Did the air bags deploy? If so that is why they will total it because those replace the bags is more expensive than what the car is worth.....

 

Thanks No the air bags did not deploy, I think they should have so I assume they were disabled or not working? I will try to reset them as i looked on line i found info on the yellow connector and shorting the leads to reset the system. What puzzled me is that it started and we drove it in to our garage where we removed the headlight and popped the bumper out. then it wouldn't start I want to verify the undercarriage before i buy the parts needed to repair it

I don't know the history on your RL whether you bought new or used...if you bought used, many were in an accident and don't have airbags thus why they were wholesaled....often the insurance companies "total them" because of the cost of the airbag replacement exceeds the used value of the car....just a thought...if you go to FaceBook there is a page dedicated to our beloved RL's with tons of information from members....just search "RL" and you find the FB page. You will have to be accepted as a member too....
