Transmission on the first gen RL is solid. No worries there.

check your balljoints, esp. the front lower ones. i've heard there have been numerous complaints about them. the previous owner of my car had them changed 3 times under warranty. everything else is pretty solid.

If the RL is in good shape and maintenance is up to date, I would def go for the trade.

look at compresion first of all if you can.

other things would be front axle boots, ball joints, rubber suspension bushings, motor mounts etc.

of course the usual maintanace stuff like leaks, tbelt, tune up etc.

but then on the other hand the less expensive cars are worth more because they get better Mpgs.... but its rediculous how much people think they can get for a W12 A8 and how much a a4 is going for... but w/e dealers are stealers.

my wifes accord is worth about 4500

the RL is one hell of a car for that price.

I was willing to pay about 5500 for a mint condition 94-95 Legend GS

so yeah they're worth what people are willing to pay.

ok so the deal with a trade fell through because they owe more than what the cars worth and cant get out of it... so im stuck with the TL... i really want an RL and cant find one cheap enough, i would buy a 98 thats cheap and just upgrade the front and rear to new stuff but to much work... anyone wanna trade? lol i know thats a long shot but w/e i tried... i just love the RL body style and the size is just what i want and perfect for me. like i said my TL is a one owner and been in the family since new.. and its mint with a few upgrades with type s body kit and and bi-xenon retrofit

RL's typically sell for more than KBB says on their site because they are rare. You can never find too many RL's.

$8K is a lot for a 99 but it's not the most ridiculous asking price if the car is in mint condition with all service records.

I picked my 02 up with 127K all service up to date for $6500 after months and months of searching. It's not in MINT condition but it's in great condition. I'm pretty picky when I use the term Mint also....

I picked my 03 up over a year and a half ago for 9 grand total with all fees taxes etc at just shy of 100k

little did they guy know all maintanace had been done including timing belt n flush everything.

I didn't go through auction. I found it on Autotrader from a 50 year old surgeon that bought it certified at 41K miles. He was asking $7300 and you saw the maintenance history on that thing It's tough to find clean ones like this at auctions and not working for a dealer anymore, I don't really have time to go look at all of them.

You picked yours up at a very good price and it looks mint.
