Fog lights, Hi beams
Fog lights, Hi beams
I am new to this site and to acura's. I just bought a 99 RL3.5 with nav and HID. The fog lights do not work. I checked all the fuses so it must be the bulbs. I have a shop manual but it dose not say how to change the bulbs just removal and replacement of housing. How do I change the bulbs after I remove the light? I really dont want to break anything. Also I am going to change the HI-beams because the yellow looks like $#!T. Will the process be the same on the HI-beams?
Thanks.
Thanks.
I changed my foglights when I had my bumper off to change my headlight housings. It's much easier to do it that way. The hi beams pop out from the engine bay fairly easily. They have a metal clip holding them in once you remove the power cable.
FYI- Were you aware that the fog lights will only work when you have your low beam headlights on? The fog lights won't work if your headlights are off or if you have your high beams selected. Welcome to the forum.
I can remove the housing but I wanted to know do you pull the rubber boot off the back to access the bulb or do the lenses come off the front? I am used to working on my jeep. I just dont want to damage anything while I am trying to change stuff out. I removed one foglight and put 12v to it and nothing happend so I know it is the bulb. I was a little hung over and did not want to break the housing trying to fugure out what to do next. So I put it back together and started looking for help.
Thanks

1. Use wrench to remove light assembly's mounting bolt.
2. Remove the light assembly from bumper.
3. Remove electrical connector by pulling it straight back.
4. Remove rubber weather seal by pulling on the tab.
5. Unclip the end of the hold-down wire from it's slot and pivot the wire out of the way and remove the bulb.
6. Insert new bulb into the hole making sure the bulb is right side up and the nubs on the bulbs base fit in the indentations in the fog light assy. Pivot the hold-down wire back in place and clip the end into the slot
7. Install rubber weather seal over the back of the fog light assy making sure it is right side up (it's marked.)
8. Push the electrical connector onto the new bulb. Turn on fog lights to test bulb.
9. Put the light assembly back into bumper and tighten mounting bolt.

Thanks for the rundown. I do not have the book. I replaced the foglights and Hi beams this weekend. I moved the HI beam bulbs to the foglight housing and put in some 8000K bulbs in the headlight housing. Much better but the yellow fog lights bug me now. Back to EBay for more bulbs. Thanks again for the info

Sorry to bring back this old post. I have a 99 RL with a dead fog light on the driver side. I have a replacement bulb, but I am having a little bit of problem following the instruction below. I cannot find the light assembly's mounting bolt. Is there anything I need to do to see the mounting bolt? Any help and or pictures will be appreciated. Thanks

The mounting bolt for the drivers side fog lamp will be on the left of the fog lamp as you are looking at the lamp assy. The bolt screws in to about the middle of the lamp assy and should be visable through the lower grill openings between the fog lamp assy's.
Thanks 2000RL. I was able to locate the mounting bolt. It was fairly easy to change. In fact I ended up changing both bulbs. The former owner used 100w instead of 55w, which is what I bought (stock). The 100w has more yellow, so I ended up with one yellow and one white. It did not look good. Thanks again.
