Coolant Info for 1998 Acura RL

Guys,

I noticed that there is a Seperate Coolant "Reserve" can near the battery in my 98 RL. It was em pty but i didn't understand how the engine is running if the coolant is empty?

Is this an additional reserve protection given by Acura for RL ?

Should i have to add this soon?

pl help.

Yes, add to it. It is just the overflow from the radiator...

Im not sure how to explain it, but just fill it. Mine was empty after i had my water pump and timing belt done at Acura and they didnt fill it. I was getting air in my coolant. As soon as i filled that up, i didnt get the gargling noise anymore.

thanks Jimmay. You are right. I am getting some sort of "water flowing from side to side" Noise while driving...since last week.

So i shall fill the reservoir bottle with coolant and see if it stops .

thanks again

Make sure you use an antifreeze that is recommended for aluminum engines and use a "50-50" ratio of water to antifreeze mixture. Do not "over-fill" the reservoir. There is a "MIN" line and a "MAX" line on the reservoir.

Thanks 2000RL. I got a 50-50 antifreeze Prestone coolant and filled below the Max line..I mean it is inbetween the two Max and Min lines.

But Only RL got this sort of reserve bottle for the coolant i think. I am not sure for how long this reserve was empty in my RL but it is good that i noticed it.
