Good morning!

I had a rather startling experience yesterday. I went to start my 2002 RL and was jolted by a series of thumps near the frot end. I shut off the car and went to check and found cat fur everywhere! I also noticed the alternator belt edge was shredded a bit. The grooves all appear untouched, but I am not sure if I should change out the belt. Any advice would be helpful. By the bye, the cat took off after his haircut!

 

Change it. It's 10 yrs old.

What's the downside of changing it? I agree with Marco and Bob - change it.

 

I changed it at 75,000 miles. I am at 78,000 miles, but thanks.
