96 RL - is there an actual ignition switch?
96 RL - is there an actual ignition switch?
I've had this problem for a while. When I turn the key I get all the dash lights but when I turn it to crank, I get nothing. It "seems"(?) maybe it helps sometimes when I turn the wheel a bit but that's not definitive.
I have the repair manual online but I don't see an actual ignition switch. Is it called something different or is there not an actual ignition switch? Would appreciate any insights.

You'll have to remove the lower dash cover first to expose the ignition switch ( held in place with two screws). On the safe side disconnect battery's negative terminal since you'll be working close to SRS harness. Also have your radio 6 digit code handy for reactivating radio after work. Also after you're done with the IS, you'll need to reset PCM idle control parameters. To do so, start engine & warm up till radiator fan comes on a couple of times and you're good to go.
@Mallen86 you may want to check out this post on this forum from a member on May 13. 2024 who had problems with his vehicle's IS. Unfortunately, we did not get a final post from him on a resolution if any. Good luck.
