6X9 ohm rating

6X9 ohm rating
Hey. I was wondering what the ohm rating is on the Bose 6x9s in the back shelf. Mine are blown and I'm getting a couple of cheap ones to hold me over till I can get OEM due to my amp being a bit wonky in colder temperatures.

My 6x9s make a weird lower pitch interference noise then the rest of the speakers have a bit of a whine for a few minutes until they warm up. The rear left speaker cracked due to this. It only does it below 30F. I think the capacitors are starting to go. The amps are 20 plus years old. Plus being 2ohm they take more abuse than normal amps.

No. But I might. Used the PowerBass OE-690D. They work ok. Not nearly as much low end but some nice highs. Note that I found out that Bose made 1ohm speakers for our car. No one makes 1ohm speakers for some reason... Owning this car is starting to get fun.

@RxRC Tried the CDT HD-690BES and wow. Once broken in they almost match if not exceed the OEM speakers and have lower sub-bass as well. This is with the OEM enclosure which doesn't even fit properly. If you make a custom enclosure for these speakers, they will exceed OEM. Only problem, the magnet is too big for the stock enclosure. The car's frame extends too far forwards to give it a snug fit. You'd have to make a custom one out of wood/material of your choice to shift it forwards to make it clear the frame. Definitely gonna make the enclosure in the future.

? The oem drivers are great. Cheap in construction sure, but they sound great when they're not blown. The HD-690s fit, but they won't seal properly. The OEM 6x9s a lot of times sounded like proper subs. They were even better than the dedicated sub in the RLX.

If you want to change out the tweeters, they are 36mm Bose units. You'd have to retrofit some 1" or 1 1/2" tweeters. Don't know the impedance on the OGs so don't know how volume would be replacing them. Maybe play with the EQ in the headunit if you haven't? You might find a setting that will accomplish your goals. I think all of the OEM speakers are discontinued. I grabbed the last set of the 5.25s in the rear doors. According to a vintage parts website, there was only 1 left after I got my pair a couple of months ago. On another note, you happy with your RL? In the other threads you seemed a little unhappy with her. If you need any help with her, I'm here.
