1st gen RL question!!

I live in the chicago area & I'm looking to get my intake manifold cleaned out.
When I went to an Acura certified mechanic he told me it would cost over $1300.00!!!!

I would do it but it's like 5 Degrees right now.

Find a different mechanic

Anyone who can work on an Acura Legend can do this, its not hard at all.

I had it done at an Acura dealer for $300. That's without diagnosis or anything. I got a Check Engine Light... read the code myself and then took it in and told them to just clean the intake manifold without diagnosis.

They must be wanting to do other stuff for $1300!!!

dealers

I just don't get dealers. I was curious the other day, went past an Acura dealer to see how much they would charge to aim my headlights since i can't find a flat space around here, and they wanted 50 bucks ! ! !

It seems like the previous owner had disconnect battery to erase those error codes right before sell it to you. Anyway your deal is not bad considering the price with mileage. The private party price for yours is around $6,700 with clean condition.

I don't know much about the condition of your car but if the car has physically good shape in and out and no other major electrical or mechanical problem except those you listed.

Your problems are not major but common problems for 1st gen RL. It probably caused by a bad ABS sensor(s) usually at the rear sensor. You'd better read the error codes first at any auto part store for free, then, start to troubleshoot it.

I was wondering since I have been looking for a 04 cluster for a while with no results. How much would it cost from Acura? Would they even do it since they would suspect foul play on mileage?

I will unveil the secret of my gauge cluster soon. The gauge cluster looks much better than 04 RL's. You got to see the close-up photos. It is actually 10 of 3-LED bulbs. You can't imagine how bright they are!

I did a lot of tiny modifications on my 97 RL with the cheapest way but with the best qualities. I will write up some DIY's whenever I have time.

I don't think the 97 and 99+ use the same cluster. I am looking at getting a spare to try to jazz up a little bit.

dash cluster

97 RLer.... I thought for sure that was an 04, but would be interested in knowing exactly how you got it to look like that. I'm having the hardest time finding an 04 cluster and 04 navi system with dash set-up.

Question 96 Rl non navi conversion

I have a 1996 RL non navi & I am wondering what navi head units might fit with little to no modifications?

I have a 2002 RL with 20" wheels. My tires rub during turns and mid size bumps in the road. I've looked into getting stiffer suspension (strut tower bar) and an aftermarket rear sway bar. Will a type s TL or RSX suspension kit fit my 2002 RL? What are my options?

Jawbreaker, call this place and find out if they'll do it. My coworkers recommended this place I've heard nothing but good things. Fortunately, I've not had anything go wrong in a while so I've not used it personally. check it out and lemme know how it works out. There's also a place in Skokie, that i've used before but can't remember the name right now. I'll post it later if i remember

I posted a new thread of the LED instrument cluster. Here's the link.
