So i bought Acura 2004 RL W/nav...and my problem starts. Navi screen is nor operating, i'm not able to set climate control is it normaln when dvd reader is missing?
Wished I could provide some encouraging words for you NAVI situation however, in the seventeen years I've been around this site I don't ever recall anyone who has purchased a first gen RL w/Navigation that has ever had a working system. You can search this Google page for references, if this link doesn't work just "google" 2004 Acura RL Navigation Screen not working. Hope you find an answer.
screen is ok but i can't run my CC panel cause all the time is "check your disc". is it ok? Here in Europe i'm not going to use nav because it wont work.
The "check your disc" was the overwhelming problem with the first gen RL's and the only way owners got it fixed was by sending the unit to Alpine for repair. But that was back in the early 2000's and that option is no longer available.
Not likely on a twenty year old piece of technology, I read this in a link " If you screen is working but you have the check disc error "You don't have to press the OK button to have access to the HVAC controls. Just hit the A/C button on the dash, and it will bring up the HVAC screen - even if you have not hit OK on the Navi screen." The only other option is buying used units which is an expensive way to fix a navigation unit you don't plan to use. Try what is written above to see if that does call-up the HVAC page, the only other option some folks mentioned was disconnecting the cars battery for a few minutes and then reconnect it and see what you get. This about all can give you on the subject, and am just sorry you have an RL with a navigation unit because they are marvelous cars, I have a 2000 non-navi for the past seventeen years and I love it! The only thing I did on interior was get rid of the OEM DVD player with the dvd changer in the trunk which was a piece of shit with an aftermarket stereo and added a back-up camera.
Furthermore, if you would rather purchase a working 39540-SZ3-A01-M1 nav. unit, search that part number on the U.S. ebay site above, there are many to choose from.
i've already bought DVD reader but whan i'm pulling device serial number using 3 buttons [menu -map/guide-cancel] there is no react even i wait 15 sec. After this time screen is going to sleep. I checked buttons and they work seperatly. What issue is that? Am i doing sth wrong?
Yes its wrong. You have to put in the 4 digit security code before you can do anything else. The code should've come with the DVD unit. If it didn't the serial on the unit itself should allow you to contact Acura and get the code. In theory anyway, its been 7 years since I last did one. :|
do you know there is possibility to start some service menu? If there is "code" screen you should press menu+zoom out. From "service menu" you can go to AC man steering after pushing AC/INFO
still have no idea how to pull serial number from nav reader....
there is a success. I have acces to diagnostic screen, you have to jump wire to service conector in the trunk. I have serial number so it's possible to generate PIN ufff.
it's strange, after pushing AC buttons HVAC screen did not come out.
I would like to stay OEM but it's really hard to do it because in Europe there is no official brand as ACURA :/
if any one read it, i'm looking for navi reader with number 39540SZ3A010M1
What you might wanna look for is anything from the 2004 Honda legends, now I'm not sure if they had a NAVI unit from where you are but it should all be plug and play. I lucked out in mine that only the screen blew out and buying a used screen I was able to use the NAVI code from the unit to get it to work. Wish you luck buddy
Hello Fellow RL Owner. MY MAN! I have been searching for a person like you to help guide me a bit! I have an 04 RL just like yours with the greyish black seats, etc. This beauty only has 80k on it, runs great! BUT- The obvious happened. My dvd player crapped. Was hoping you might steer me in a direction to find it cheap. Ali Express used to have this dvd player, but im struggling to locate it. I have all of this information below, but I think I still need that part number to find a decently priced drive. The part number will start with something like DV123 (Numbers),
Here is what ive collected so far
39540-SEC-A020-M1
interchange part number BN434AE
Hope to hear from you soon ! Im in the states. MY HEAT and ac will not work without this and im desperate!
if the problem is in the dvd reader you can try to clean it. I did it to mine but it wans;t main problem as you can read from the thread.
Unfortunately there is no possibility to buy cd changer wireless adpater because cd changer is integrated module..... For me GROM or Navtool are to much expensive.
