Whistling noise on highway.

Has anyone experienced a whistling noise when traveling on the highway? I just got my RDX last week and went on my first long road trip. At 79 miles per hour and above (I know, drive slower) there is a whistling noise. All the windows are fully closed, the sun roof is closed, etc. Any suggestions (besides going slower).

Yup, I hear that sometimes too... only at certain speeds... possibly the seals need some silicone spray or something...

Thanks. I have a call into my trusty Acura service advisor. Left him a message at 10 this morning and he hasn't called back yet. Got better service at my local Honda dealer.

Talked to the service advisor yesterday. He said he had not heard of any other complaints. If I come up with the cause, I'll keep you posted.

^ ya they should be able to do that.

Just request for a mechanic to sit in with you and drive on a freeway.

I might try that the next time I'm on the highway. Good suggestion Stonelyson.

may be you should take a test drive on highway for 60mph+ and make some decisions...

for me , i only do 5-10% highway driving daily and most city , the noise bugs me but I really like the handling and all the Techs that comes with the car...

When I'm sitting in the drivers seat, it seems to me as if it is coming from some where to the left and just a bit behind from me. It is not coming from the roof.

So if I were to guess, it seems to be either coming from the back side of the front door, or the front side of the passenger door or may be from the windows (the doors and windows I'm referring to being on the drivers side).

I have checked to make sure nothing is stuck in the gaps of the doors and the windows close up all the way.

Angry Rubber Door Gasket

After hearing too much wind noise I checked out the door weather gasket and sure enoough I saw that some of it is not adhearing to the door frame.Seems to be a too small of a mounting area for the gasket-also seems to need glue.
The MANY small problems with this suv is adding up , making me feel kinda sad that Acura's quality is no better than lesser cars.My old Legend after 12 years never had half of the problems I have with this new car-prob. cause it was made in Japan at the time.

I have the exact problem as you have. On highway above around 65, I can hear the wind whistling noise coming from driver's side window (or door) since I cannot pinpoint the exact position. My wife also can hear a little from passenger side, but not significant. What's wrong with it. Is that just as simple as the problem with rubber gasket? I doubt that.

Get the Rubber gasket replaced. That's what I did on the passanger side door.
The first day I got it, when It got off the truck, they hindged it w/ the car cover. and it bent the rubber. So I had it replaced. (they should do it for free...)

But I checked my gasket. It seems fine and also the car is brand new. Only 500 miles on it. Of course it chaning the gasket can get it solved, what a relief.

Hi all,

anyone here has ever figured out what's going on with this noise? I am going to make the appointment with the dealership, but it is not very close, so I am still waiting to see what's the problem in this forum.

Thanks.............

Got the tunes cranked up on my RDX DVD-A surround sound. So what wind noise are you taking about?

Is a noise that you will hear when driving on freeway for 50mph+

Try to use your hands free link (all windows closed) and the other party will complain about the background winding noise....

I still haven't had a chance talk to the service...

Did you ever have this fixed? What was the outcome? I've noticed it on my '08 as well. It's not so loud that I think it could be heard on the HFL, but it is by my ear and can be a little annoying if the radio isn't turned up.

I have a whistling noise when driving over 60 mph. In my case though, it only happens when I have the inside air recirculating. Probably the damper that keeps outside air from entering the vehicle.

Had the same problem on the rear doors, and adjusted the door jamb latch inward a little and it stopped. Two large phillips screws loosen slightly and tap the latch toward the inside. You can tell a loose fitting door by pushing it inward at the glass line. If there is play there will be air noise.

I also had a high pitched whistling noise when traveling at highway speeds, except mine would only occur when the recirculation button was pressed. I took my RDX in to the dealor and they said they havn't heard of this issue for the RDX, but knew of the problem for the MDX. They insisted that they keep the car and look into the issue.

When i picked up the car, they informed me that the recirc door had a crack when it was closed. Therefore, they replaced the blower motor recirc door and the blower box. On the way home, I tested the issue by speeding up to 80mph and there was no high pitched whistling noise. Therefore, it seems that they have fixed the problem.

Everything was covered under the factory warrenty.

On occasion I have that same issue, but only with the system off and in recirculate mode and only doing 80+. I wonder if I have that same problem.
