Transmission kick

Ever since I can remember my RDX (2007) has acted liked it is in neutral for about 2 seconds before 'kicking' into Drive. It only happens when switching between park and drive and reverse and drive. Its like the car stalls for about 2 seconds and you can feel it kick into to gear. It is only noticeable when driving at lower speeds like after pulling out of a parking spot. Is it the torque converter? I know I read somewhere that the RDX had a very beefy transmission to handle all of the torque and it wasnt the smoothest of transmissions. I was wondering if anyone else can feel this in their RDX after switching into Drive?

I think have this issue as well. I think someone might have posted a similar issue but i notice it on mines too. Every day after i pull out a parking spot and as I gently pull away...it makes this loud noise as if the transmission wasn't in gear or something .

I never notice this on my 08 RDX with +70,000 miles (Hondata for 2 years).

I had a Honda Accord a few years ago that started doing that after 140,000 miles of trouble-free transmission miles. The problem just got progressively worst over a short amount of time (2 months) before I had to replace the tranny with a rebuilt.

It does not sound like your problem is getting worst; but, staying the same?

Yeah its staying the same but I always feel like something is going to break when it happens. I used to own a 2001 MDX so I know what a bad transmission feels like and it doesn't feel like that.

Slope? Some hill start assist features can act like that even on a slight slope. My '07 RDX is fine, but our TL has a long pause before kicking into gear when going up the driveway.

The RDX has hill start assist? I did not know that but its actually not on a slope, just a flat conrete parking lot, but I've come to realize that it is just how the car is and not a bad tranny.

same issue 07 rdx

this is an old thread i know, i dont see any info on this issue on the rdx forums so ill see if anyone has an idea what is causing this issue,

i have the same issue with my 2007 rdx 95 k miles, problem i have is 3 second delay going into drive when hot, when its cold its perfect seamless quick engagement, I replaced 3rd gear switch and 4th gear switch and no change, so i did the drain and fill 2 times with Valvoline max life, old fluid was clean and has about 20 k miles on it, drain plug magnet looks great, had a 32 inch thick film on it, is there a part i have not replaced that needs to be, other than transmission, lol
