just got a recall notice for the rdx in the mail today ... regarding the accessory trailer hitch.... i know some of you got it ... so im writing to let you know whats up...(if u dont know already)

notice states: theres a "defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exites in certain acura accessory trailer hitch kits, P/N 08L92-STL-200, sold for 2007 model year RDX vehicles. the trailer hitch was not welded properly by the manufacturer of the trailer hitch. this may result in the hitch separating from the vehicle, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash without warning."

it says to not use it and call your dealer for appointment to check it out... if needed to be replaced... allow half day....

Anyone have this accessory? I'd like to have some feedback on how well they take care of you. Although I bought several accessories on Ebay, this wasn't one of them. Ain't got nothin to tow.

Just went to dealer yesterday, they checked it and confirmed I need a replacement. It is in back-order already?? Anyway, they did a give me a FREE car wash.

I bought mine on ebay, can I expect an inspection/exchange at the dealer?
anyone has the detail as to what is wrong, how can I do the inspection myself?

 

dont think u can check it urself... just bring in the recall and have them check it for u... if anything say u installed it yourself...

 

Yeah I got mine in the mail the same day you did.

Like chillin said, I don't think you can inspect it yourself. I doubt the dealer even inspects anything to say yes its ok or not. I think all of them have been recalled. Anyone have one that hasn't been recalled?

If you bought it off of ebay from someone that isn't a dealer then you may not be covered, but most Acura dealers shouldn't give you a hard time about it as long as it is a genuine acura product.

 

If anyone is not using the hitch to tow anything like my G/F does(uses hitch for bike rack only) then the Draw-Tite hitch for the RDX is perfect for that type of application. It's around $100 shipped, and I installed it in less than 20 minutes and there is NO CUTTING of the bumper as there is with the OEM hitch.
