TPMS error

Just after 20min of driving since I took the car from the dealer lot, this yellow indicator "check TPMS system" along with "system function error" came on my MID. It seemed like the dealer had just put new set of tires, so I didn't bother getting back to them just for this.

I have been checking my tire pressure pretty regularly and nothing seemed to be going wrong. Today at the Honda dealer they checked it and said pressures are exactly at where they should be.

But this error message has been on for more than 3 weeks. It turned off briefly for maybe couple of hours during one very hot day, but it came back again. The manual says this alarm should turn on when I change tires etc but it should go off by itself. So I was suspecting perhaps something is wrong with the actual sensors... but the guy at the Honda dealer had no idea today.

My question is basically, how do I re-set the system? I am so sick of this yellow shit popping up everytime I start the engine.

Some part of the TPMS is not communicating with the control module, so the system is shut down. It could be a bad sensing unit in the wheel, or just a wire they left disconnected, among other things.

This is a simple matter of reading the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) and identifying the failed component, then fixing or replacing it.

Find a competent dealer.

at a Honda dealer right now. And they're saying that it will cost me about $130 to fix this. This sounds like a rip off to me... is it really this expensive to do the DTC?

They don't even know what is the problem yet, but saying they will find and figure out for this much.

Is each individual TPMS displaying their Tire Pressures?

I have (1) New TMPS Sensor that is for sale. Just in case its what needs to be replaced.

the tpms page on mid shows no values on all 4 tires, so it not clear if it is just one sensor acting weird, or if there is something more.

Once in a while, when the weather is really warm the warning actually goes off, and the tpms page on mid says 32psi on all 4.

My wife's 08 RDX has the exact same issue. Just popped up the other day. It went away for a couple hours yesterday and all the tire pressures read normal and then the error message came back on. It's still on today. The only work the car has had in the past few months was an oil change done by me. 85K miles.

OP, was your issue ever resolved?

Op...

OP you don't mention what year your RDX is. What year is it?

We have an '11 with a frequent TPMS System malfunction alarm popping up. It always goes away on its own, usually pretty quickly.

Went to the dealer for warranty repair. Many trips later they say it is due to RF interference from our phones, pad, and Wi-Fi net work used for gauges.

The first time it popped up I pulled over and checked all the tires and they were all fine. It mostly show up on longer trips and on the freeway at speed.

We just live with it now...

Yes. When it infrequently comes on it's the same "System Malfunction" problem. And we ignore it. It always goes away on its own.

Im getting this error on my new to me 2012. It seems that its being caused by interference from my cell phone charger when I use the outlet inside the cebter console.

Going to get a better quality charger and see how it goes.

Pretty much confirmed after doing some intense research, what is happening is UHF RF interference in the 350mhz range screwing with the tpms computer coming from the cheap cellphone chargers.

The chargers emit RF when plugged in?

Our problem is intermitent, but most often on long trips. I will try removing them on our next long trip.

Yes that is exactly what is happening. infact sometimes you can unplug the offending charger when you have the error and it goes away.
