Squeaky Driver's Seat

Purchased my RDX in 10/06, about 22K miles. Recently the driver's seat back has started squeaking. It does this when you press your back into the seat, even with normal range of motion (not much force). It actually sounds like the inflatable lumbar support is making the noise, no matter what its inflated level is. Full inflated, deflated or in between.
Anyone else have this happen? It is pretty annoying when making any motions and your seat squeaks at you! I could just turn the radio louder I guess...

You can't take it to the dealer and ask for a fix or new seat?

I was going to bring it up at my next dealer visit, but it's one of those things I don't know if they will fix... I assume it would mean a whole new seat.

Hey you never know until you ask. Ask what the options are and then make your decision.

I had a 1998 Passat--new--with a front passenger seat squeak. They replaced the seat--no questions. I had a 2002 Volvo S60--new--with a driver seat issue (it "popped" internally with any modest pressure). They dinked with it for 12 visits but would not replace it. Now I tell everyone I can about Volvo. The Passat was great...if the 2002 body style had changed I would have purchased another Passat at the time. Bottom line--press the dealer for your satisfaction. You shouldn't have to contend with faulty anything on your car that falls under the dealer's responsibility, warranty, etc.

Try tightening the torx screw on your seat railing. I had a similar noise, but found this torx screw was actually the source of the play in my seat railing. You can find it by looking under the front of your seat. The screw is on the end cap of the railing facing the front of the car... immediately above where the seat bolts into the frame. Hope this helps!

Wish I had more details about the fix, but the dealer had the "interior guy" look at the seat, and its fixed! No more annoying squeak every time I make a movement. Nothing noticeable done to the exterior of the seat.

Driver's seat squeaks

I purchased my RDX at 16,000 miles in Dec. 2018. The squeak in driver's seat started in 2019 at just under 20,000 miles. I didn't know the car had entered service (began a lease) in summer 2015, so when I purchased it, it was already out of warranty. Customer service will not allow me to file a claim (because they say I'm not a long standing customer - how are you supposed to be one when you just bought the car?). The cost to repair is over $1700. That's for the squeaky seat back. But there's a different kind of squeak coming from the seat base also. I don't know what the estimate on that will be.

It may be cheaper to take it to an auto upholstery shop.
