Shaking engine + flashing cel

Well, it was bound to happen eventually, finally had a breakdown in the RDX. While on the highway, noticed a flashing engine light. Didn't feel anything at first, but on slowing down it was clear it's misfiring badly. Limped off the next exit and also getting a strong sulfur smell from the exhaust. I understand that's likely fuel wreaking havoc on the cat so I killed it quick. No trouble codes were generated. Curious if anyone has had this happen, and if so what the culprit was? I know there are many possibilities. In a previous car, similar symptoms wound up being a crank position sensor, but I got a code for that. Maybe one of spark plugs just randomly fucked off? Only have 40k on them though. I'm perplexed as I wait for the tow.

I think you might have called it; perhaps the spark plug(s) ejected?

Not yet, gonna let the shop take care of this one since I don't have the tools on me or want to pay for multiple tows. But I'll update later once it's figured out.

Ended up being a failed coil. No indication that the plugs themselves were any bad, but threw a new set in there just to be safe, and hopefully won't have to pull the I/C off again for at least 5 more years.
