Radio does not like the cold?

I don't know what is up but when it is cool, say in the 50's or lower, the radio is just a noise box until the cabin warms up.

Has anyone else experienced this? I don't even know where to begin to look to figure that out, lol. Never had a fair weather sound system!

I've heard that premium speakers don't like the cold weather... It happens to me in that tempature range, from about 60°f and colder... Takes about 10 minutes to stop doing it...

Where do you live, lots of humidity?

Do you have the tech model with nav and ELS surround?

Definitely, not just you. The colder it gets the worse it sounds, until it warms up. It might be the speaker material it less pliable at frigid temperatures.

Happens to me, too. I ended up replacing a blown speaker (passenger woofer) this year but also suspect it's just an issue with the the amp because it affects all speakers in mine until the car warms up. It hasn't been sufficiently cold to really see if the issue is gone (fixed by replaced woofer) or still exists (caused by dying amp). "Noise box" is exactly what best describes a dying amp so that's my best guess. I haven't done anything about it because it works fine most of the time and no need to throw money away for a small inconvenience every once in a while.

I always blew out the speakers on my RDX, thankfully they were replaced under warranty. Just one of the issues of our RDX’s.

My front passenger speaker is pretty much blown, I think... Sound is still great though!!!

The ELS is freaking awesome when it works right!!!

Actually, on the soncond or third startup on short trips this afternoon, it made the fuzzy noise for a minute, go figure... Was fine before, was fine after... It was about 50-55°F, but supposed to be in mid 20°s next week, so, we shall see!!!

Wait until it hits zero the screen won’t even work until the car warms up 😂.

True, the early RDX doesn't like the cold. My '07 Tech (with nearly 130k miles) generally has audio spits and muffles in temps < 30 F until she warms up. She has been a great ride (bought new in early '08) with only a few unplanned repairs along the way; really, just one — my radiator basically blew up at about 126k for no apparent reason. Certainly got my $34k worth. Now starting to look at other rides. Not sure if I'll end up finding anything I like better, but hey it never hurts to look.

Also liking the '19 RDX, but it's getting pretty spendy imo. Acura is starting to lose their value prop with pricing that starts near $40k when a comparably loaded up CX-5 can be had for about $12k less. Yeah, it's maybe not as quick as the RDX, but for the money, it's a pretty impressive ride.

If you have the ELS stereo in your RDX, you owe it to yourself to get a few DVD-As that were made specifically for it (and/or make your own - STF for guides). R.E.M.'s Automatic For The People has been in slot 1 of my player since January of 2007. Never get tired of that amazing sound separation and musicianship.

IMO, nothing can replace a 1G RDX, but that's just me.

The cold doesn't bother my radio/sound system (at least yet) but my Navigation system & screen sure doesn't like it.

All the screens in my RDX move so slower depending on how cold it is out. It’s like trying to get out of bed with a hangover in the dark.

My radio doesn't like rain. When it rains, my reception goes to crap. Luckily, I mostly listen to podcasts.
Your speakers are probably not blown. The surrounds separate from the frame. Just glue it back.

I don’t know why satellite 🛰 radio 📻 and television 📺 still haven’t figured out how to get a clear signal down to the earth 🌍 satellite 📡 without crapping out yet...
